Finalizing Story Details

Before filming, I want to make sure I have a very clear image of the story that I am trying to represent. I have already written and published my script, but I want to make sure my vision is clear.

My story follows the main protagonist, Amy, who feels alone and friendless. She uses sleeping as a way to escape from reality, feeling like it is her only way out. because I am just making an opening sequence, this is the main concept that I am trying to illustrate. Had this been a full film, I would have delved into Amy's search for belonging and battle with the real world and the one she dreams about.

My main goal for the opening is to introduce the audience to the character and her struggles and to show them what her life is like. I want to set up the rest of the story. The ideal outcome for my film opening would be to make viewers want to see the rest of the film. I want to make people invested in the character and her journey, even if there won't actually be more to watch.

The film's opening will take place in the fall, and the story will take viewers through an entire academic year as the character grows and changes, with each season signifying a new period of her life. Unfortunately, because I am only making the opening, I do not have time to convey all of this in the first two minutes.

The film will also be set in South Florida, as that is where I live and where I have experiences that I can most accurately portray.

I want my film to represent loneliness through the eyes of a teenage girl. But I still want it to resonate with anyone who has ever felt alone. I would like to make it feel calm and dreamy to match the state that the protagonist is in during the film.
